We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Labourer who is ready to step into a long-term career as a Skilled Machinist within our stone fabrication factory. No previous machining experience is required - just a strong work ethic, good attitude and willingness to learn.
This role offers full on-the-job training, leading to operation and programming of CNC machinery including bridge saws, routers and unloading equipment.
About the Role:
Starting as a labourer / trainee machinist, you will support day-to-day factory operations and machine operation while progressively learning the skills required to become a machinist.
Initial duties include:
* Assisting factory staff with general labouring tasks
* Manual handling and use of power/air tools
* Loading and unloading materials (forklift & crane training provided)
* Keeping work areas clean, safe and well organised
* Emptying bins, clearing debris, maintaining housekeeping standards
* Supporting machinists with basic machining tasks
As training progresses, you will learn to:
* Load, unload and program CNC machinery (Litox, Intra, GMM-GL3 & other plant)
* Read and complete job progress sheets accurately
* Pack, strap and document consignments
* Move stone using forklifts or cranes
* Follow all SOPs, WHS and company procedures
* Report hazards, defects and unsafe practices
* Participate in risk assessments with the Factory Manager
* Maintain tools and equipment to required standards
About You:
We're looking for someone who:
* Is physically fit and comfortable with manual work
* Is reliable, punctual and motivated
* Has a strong focus on safety
* Has some experience or and understanding of machinery operation
* Can follow instructions and complete basic paperwork
* Works well in a team environment
* Has forklift experience (preferred but not essential)
