Salary range: $ 70,000 to $ 80,000 per annum + Superannuation (based on experience and qualifications
About the role:
As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to a high standard while supporting the smooth operation of our kitchen. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Preparing, cooking, and seasoning a variety of Indian and Asian dishes in line with our recipes and quality standards.
· Assisting the Head Chef in menu planning, estimating food and ingredient requirements, and ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained.
· Assisting the Head Chef and kitchen team with ingredient preparation, chopping, marinating, grinding spices, and cooking curries.
· Portioning and plating food, adding gravies, sauces, and garnishes.
· Ensuring food freshness, taste, and quality before serving to customers.
· Operating and regulating kitchen equipment such as tandoors, ovens, grills, and fryers.
· Adjusting dishes to meet dietary needs and customer preferences when required.
· Storing ingredients properly in temperature-controlled areas to maintain safety and freshness.
· Maintaining strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards at all times.
· Coordinating effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure accurate and timely order delivery.
· Assisting the Head chef and the kitchen team to plan and deliver the menu as per JB's Indian & Kaffeine standards.
· Supporting and guiding junior kitchen staff or apprentices as needed.
What We're Looking For
· A minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
· Strong passion for Indian cuisine, including understanding of spice balance, regional flavours, and traditional cooking techniques.
· At least 1-2 years of experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
· Solid technical cooking skills with an eye for detail, consistency, and presentation.
· Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and kitchen operations.
· Ability to perform well under pressure, especially during peak periods.
· A reliable team player with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow
