Job Location
Forensicare provides specialized forensic mental health services across 12 of Victoria's 14 prisons, with plans to expand to Western Plains in the Barwon region. This position is based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne's west, offering 75 prison-based custodial mental health beds, as well as assessments and outpatient services provided within a maximum-security forensic mental health complex within the medium-security prison.
About the Role:
The Psychologist (Grade 2) will work on a unit with female offenders experiencing mental illness as part of a multidisciplinary team. The psychologist may contribute to scholarly writing and research and complete court-ordered psychological assessments as directed.
Duties:
* Provide comprehensive psychological services and advice on patient management and treatment.
* Conduct specialist psychological, psychometric, and psychodiagnostic assessments and produce reports when necessary.
* Offer individual and/or group interventions as appropriate.
* Contribute to patient risk assessment and risk management in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
* Make discipline-specific contributions to clinical practice and program development.
About You:
* Previous experience working in a mental health facility or a forensic mental health service would be advantageous.
* Familiarity with clinical forensic psychology, including forensic assessments and intervention with offenders and/or forensic patients.
* Knowledge of clinical neuropsychology, including the assessment of functional deficits.
* Experience working with female offenders, including those with personality disorders.
* A good understanding of current psychological approaches in working with clients experiencing mental health issues in the forensic mental health setting.
* Awareness of relevant legislation, the mental health system, and the criminal justice system.
What You Need:
* Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course or equivalent, or a Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APAC accredited course or equivalent.
* Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
* The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.
