Fire and Safety Australia is seeking an experienced and highly capable ESO Lead for an ongoing role in the oil and gas sector, based in South Australia. This is a FIFO position on a 2:2 roster from Adelaide or Brisbane.
We're looking for a proven leader with a strong background in fire and emergency response, capable of leading high-performing teams in dynamic environments. Aviation firefighting and training experience is highly desirable.
The Emergency Response Lead as well as having specific lead responsibilities will also respond as a member of the ‘onsite’ emergency response team. Providing an understanding of the systems and processes that make up prevention, preparedness and response which includes mentoring and familiarisation of operations, processes and procedures to onsite personnel and support health, safety activities where required.
You will be responsible for the lead and coordination of onsite Emergency Services and Security Officers and their duties during both standard daily operations and emergency incident response.

•Certificate IV in Emergency Response Coordination and or Certificate IV Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) including the following competencies
•Cert III Emergency Response and Rescue /Cert III Public Safety (Firefighting Operations)
•Road Crash Rescue/HAZMAT/Open Circuit Breathing Apparatus/Aviation firefighting
•Vertical/Confined Space Rescue
•Current Advanced First Aid
•Police Clearance - 3 months
•Collect Specimens
Desired Qualifications:
•NAFS III - Extinguishing agent handling licence
•Inspection and servicing of fire extinguishers and panels
•Inspection, calibration and servicing of gas detection equipment
•Servicing of onsite breathing apparatus and respirators
•Aviation fire fighting
•Coxswain
•Current TAE qualification - TAE40122
•Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS)
Key Responsibilities:
* Extensive operational experience in fire, rescue, and emergency response, ideally within oil & gas, mining, construction, defence, maritime, or aviation sectors.
* Proven capability in leading emergency response teams and managing high-risk work activities (e.g., rescue planning, confined space, working at heights, gas testing, permit systems).
* Strong working knowledge of industrial fire and rescue procedures, emergency planning, and response systems in high-risk environments.
* Experience in delivering and assessing emergency response training, ideally holding a current TAE40122 (or equivalent) qualification.
* Familiarity with emergency response planning, audits, assurance, asset management, and compliance within regulated environments.
* Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills, including coordination with internal teams, clients, government, and community organisations.
* Exposure to aviation firefighting and incident response management is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to manage rostering, performance, training plans, and asset readiness.
* Experience with emergency response equipment maintenance, inspections, and regulatory compliance (AS 1851-2012, Building Code of Australia).
* Ability to support fitness-for-work programs, health and wellness initiatives, and drug & alcohol policy enforcement.
