Midwife Role
The Mater Hospital Mackay has an exciting opportunity for a Midwife to work within its Maternity Unit on a permanent part-time basis with hours flexible and open to discussion.
This role involves practicing with advanced clinical competence in the provision of quality and cost-effective care in consultation with other members of the healthcare team. This includes providing support and direction to other staff while role-modeling and promoting professional standards of practice and conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing support to staff on best practices for managing pregnancy care and improving outcomes for women in both antenatal and postnatal stages
* Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
* Providing clinical guidance, leadership, and education to members of the clinical team to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activities
* Liaising with obstetric teams to ensure coordinated comprehensive care and managing complex cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
* Actively contributing towards the Quality Safety and Work Health and Safety processes in the clinical area
* Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
* Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
* Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
Requirements:
* Current Midwifery registration with AHPRA
* Post-graduate midwifery experience
* Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
* Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximize patient care within the multidisciplinary team
* Commitment to the continuous improvement of healthcare and midwifery practice and to continuing professional development of self and others
* An ability to work autonomously and function as a member of a diverse health service delivery team
* Willingness to commit to and role-model the Mater values
