Offer description

About the role

Unitywater's Transformation and Change Portfolio Delivery team sits at the heart of how the organisation delivers on its strategic ambitions, and this role leads the charge on project management excellence within it. As Project Management Practice Lead, with deep domain expertise and a passion for helping others to build theirs, you will be a hands‑on delivery leader and coach in equal measure, personally leading digital, process and change initiatives while simultaneously lifting the capability of Unitywater's broader project management community.

You will role model what great delivery looks like, improving governance and stakeholder confidence through embedding consistent practices and ways of working across the enterprise. Your coaching and systems thinking approach to delivering quality outcomes will ensure every initiative lands with real, measurable value for customers and the community across Southeast Queensland.

What you will be doing

* Defining and maturing Unitywater's project management practice, establishing consistent standards, tools and ways of working that move the team from foundational to leading.
* Actively coaching and mentoring the project management community, shifting team members from task execution to strategic, high‑performance, business value focused delivery behaviours.
* Leading cross‑functional digital, process and change initiatives end to end, championing a One Unitywater approach and maintaining accountability for delivery integrity and outcomes.
* Leveraging adaptive delivery methodologies and a systems thinking mindset in the development of practices and standards.
* Partnering with sponsors, senior stakeholders and other members of the Transformation and Change function to shape benefits realisation strategies, anchor decision‑making in business value and keep delivery focused on strategic outcomes.
* Fostering a collaborative, continuously improving team culture where feedback is welcomed, experiments are encouraged and collective performance is prioritised over individual output.

About you

Our One Unitywater behaviours – Create the Future, Care Together, and Own It – define how we work together at Unitywater. To contribute to this, you will demonstrate the following skills and qualities for the role.

What You Will Need (must have)

* Tertiary level project and program management qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent.
* Extensive end‑to‑end experience leading complex projects and programmes, leveraging a variety of delivery methods, incorporating robust planning, governance, risk management, stakeholder engagement and benefits realisation.
* Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring project management practitioners across scheduling, financial forecasting, risk, interdependencies, commercial acumen, stakeholder management and adaptive delivery approaches.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including facilitating high‑stakes workshops and aligning diverse groups around shared outcomes and business value.
* Experience leading people through their professional development and wellbeing, with the ability to model best‑practice project management behaviours across an organisation.

What will set you apart (nice to have)

* Experience applying adaptive delivery mindsets, selecting and tailoring approaches based on project complexity and operating context.
* Experience managing third‑party vendor relationships to ensure quality delivery and value for money.
* Exposure to the water industry or a similarly regulated utility environment.
* Demonstrated systems thinking capability, understanding the interrelationships between organisational components to optimise delivery decisions and outcomes.
