The Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) is seeking a Policy Officer to support its ongoing policy development and advocacy activities.

With tackling the housing supply and affordability crisis continuing to be a key priority for all levels of Government, this is an exciting and important time to be a part of UDIA WA and contribute to enabling the delivery of the homes we need, faster.

This includes by facilitating essential discussion and debate, fostering a connected industry, releasing critical research and market intelligence that informs business decisions and presenting Government with evidence-based solutions that influence policy outcomes.

About this opportunity

This is a full time, permanent role providing the right candidate with the opportunity to support critical policy and project work underpinning UDIA WA's advocacy agenda, aligned with our purpose, vision and mission.

Key responsibilities include:

* Coordination of UDIA WA Policy Committees.
* Drafting submissions, policy positions and other publications.
* Tracking and reviewing the impact of government policy and commitments on the development industry and housing outcomes.
* Drafting briefing notes and other policy related correspondence and meeting requests to support government relations activities.
* Undertaking data analysis and tracking industry trends to support policy work.
* Responding to policy-related member queries.
* Supporting the delivery of policy and technical projects.

Skills and experience

Essential criteria:

* Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
* WA property and development industry and/or policy development experience.
* Experience writing reports, managing multiple concurrent activities and deadlines.
* Must have the right to live and work in Australia for the duration of the contract.

Desirable

* Board/Committee/Steering Group meeting support experience.
* Experience liaising/working with a range of stakeholders.
* Current driver's licence.
