Lightwave Architecture has been shaping the built environment of South East Queensland and Northern NSW for over 20 years. Ours is a practice built on considered design, long client relationships, and a deep understanding of the coastal context we work in.
We're growing. We have a strong pipeline of residential, multi-dwelling, mixed-use, education, and aged care projects — and we're looking for two talented people to join us: a graduate ready to develop their practice, and a senior architect or experienced technician looking for genuine responsibility and creative ownership.
If you do your best work in a focused studio where design quality matters and you can see your contribution directly — this is the role.
What you'll do
* Lead or contribute to projects from initial brief through design, documentation, approvals, and construction — depending on experience
* Build and maintain strong client relationships with genuine empathy for their goals
* Coordinate consultants and manage authority approval processes
* Produce thorough, accurate ArchiCAD documentation to a high standard
* Contribute ideas — we're a small team and good thinking is welcome at every level
Who we're looking for
Graduate role: Architecture degree plus up to 3 years' experience. Eager, self-directed, and serious about developing craft. ArchiCAD skills valued.
Senior role: 5–10 years of experience across residential or mixed-use project types. Strong ArchiCAD documentation. Solid knowledge of the NCC and relevant Australian Standards. Capable of running projects independently. Registration welcome but not essential — we value demonstrated knowledge and capability over credentials.
Both roles: clear communicator, interest in sustainable and passive design, someone who takes professional pride in what they produce.
What we offer
* Studio in the heart of Coolangatta, walking distance to one of Australia's most iconic stretches of coastline
* Small team means you see projects through — concept, DA, construction, and everything between
* Flexible environment for independent, self-motivated people
* Varied, design-focused work across a thriving coastal region
