Senior Network Engineer – Cisco, SD-WAN Cyber Security (NT) Step into a senior (EL1 equivalent) Network Engineer role delivering secure, resilient networks for a Darwin-based organisation operating within a high-impact federal government environment.
You'll design and implement WAN/LAN and SD-WAN solutions, harden and uplift network security, and keep critical services running across the Northern Territory while working closely with multi-disciplinary technical and business stakeholders.
Location: Northern Territory – Darwin (onsite, up to 40 hours per week between 7am–7pm Mon–Fri) Contract Details Contract Duration: 12 months Security Clearance Requirement: Must have a current Baseline security clearance (must be active) Closing Date: 10:00am Thursday 15 January **** Essential Tasks: Design, implement and maintain the organisation's WAN/LAN and SD-WAN network infrastructure across the NT.
Implement network security remediation and uplift activities in line with best-practice security guidance.
Configure, troubleshoot and optimise network devices including firewalls, routers and switches, ensuring performance and resilience.
Develop architecture, as-built and operational documentation while working closely with stakeholders in multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Criteria: Strong experience with WAN/LAN networking (MPLS, VPLS, SD-WAN, VRFs, VLANs, VPNs) and core protocols (BGP, OSPF, ARP, DNS, DHCP).
Hands-on experience implementing security solutions (firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation/segregation techniques) and managing secure network infrastructure.
Experience with network monitoring and reporting tools, ideally supported by certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or CCIE (or equivalent).
High attention to detail with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and technical writing skills.
