SC1 Experience working with school communities, families and community organisations involving individuals of culturally and linguistic diverse backgrounds.

SC2 Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills including the ability to partner with and broker support from local community organisations.

SC3 Ability to build strong working relationships with parents and local community organisations to identify best practice and areas for improvement to support student and parent engagement.

Role


The Community Liaison Officer will be required to support our school community to focus on increasing school engagement, promoting inclusion, strengthening partnerships with families and community, and facilitating activities to increase retention and school completion.


Responsibilities

* Provide support to our school communities to establish and maintain communication between students, families and the local community.
* Work directly with groups of students or individuals, planning interventions to ensure young people are connected to an education.
* Work directly with students to provide platforms for student voice, facilitate leadership opportunities and facilitate activities that aligns with their needs.
* Facilitate information sessions for parents and carers to support an increased understanding of the education system and platforms, and increase engagement with information sessions and school celebrations.
* Facilitate professional learning for school staff on cultural responsiveness and safety coordinate workshops and forums for the school and local community.

* Support school leaders with the rollout of the cultural competency framework and other activities aimed at strengthening inclusivity for diverse communities.

Conditions of Employment

* The successful candidate will be required to work some hours during the school holidays. Regular work hours will be 8am to 4pm on weekdays. This may be negotiated as appropriate.

Location Profile


Lyndale Greens Primary School's vision is to be a community thriving through engagement and inclusivity.

Our school is located on Bunurong Country, Dandenong North, in the City of Greater Dandenong - the most culturally diverse community in Victoria. Lyndale Greens Primary School was established in 2010, through the merger of Lyndale Primary School and Greenslopes Primary School.

Our school has over 450 students, 70% of whom speak a language other than English at home, with 40 languages represented.

Our school has a strong focus on the explicit instruction of literacy and numeracy, complemented by a specialist program consisting of Visual Arts, Indonesian/Auslan, Science, Library and Physical Education.

Teaching and learning are supported by interactive displays in each classroom and learning area, 1:1 digital technology in Years 3-6, banks of iPads for junior years, and a TV/podcasting studio.

We are two years into our Science of Learning journey through rigorous staff professional development and engaging with the following instructional resources:

Our 2024 NAPLAN results (Strong and Exceeding) have our school performing well above Similar' andNetwork' schools in all domains except Year 3 Numeracy.

Our students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities including State School Spectacular, Wakakirri, Girl Guides, swimming, camps, interschool and after-school sports, and looking after our adopted park, Booth Crescent Reserve.

Our staff meet as year level Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) on a weekly basis, where they are guided through cycles of inquiry by our Curriculum and Pedagogy Assistant Principal, and Learning Specialists.
