Your new company
You will be joining a local council in the Hunter Valley, working within an established Environmental Health team in a fast paced regulatory setting. The council runs a strong inspection program and is seeking experienced temporary support through to the end of the financial year.
Your new role
This role is focused mainly on food premises inspections, with some involvement in public health inspections and complaint response. You will step into a hands on council environment where you can manage your workload independently and contribute from day one.
Key responsibilities include:
* Carrying out routine and risk based food premises inspections
* Assessing compliance with the Food Act 2003, Food Regulation and Food Standards Code
* Issuing statutory notices including improvement and prohibition notices when required
* Responding to food safety and public health complaints and conducting investigations
* Providing clear advice and education to food business operators
* Maintaining accurate inspection, enforcement and case records in council systems
What you will need to be successful
To succeed in this position you will have:
* A qualification in Environmental Health or equivalent that allows appointment as an Authorised Officer
* Proven experience conducting food safety inspections in a local government setting
* The ability to work independently and manage inspection workloads
* Experience applying risk based and proportionate enforcement approaches
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A current Class C driver licence
