About the role

In this role, you'll lead and support internal audit engagements as part of the internal audit work plan, working closely with co-sourced partners to strengthen risk management, controls, and governance across our department.

Key responsibilities include:

* Plan, coordinate, and manage co-sourced and external audit providers to deliver operational, financial, technology related and compliance type audits and projects
* Establish strong relationships between internal teams and external partners to ensure timely, value adding audit outcomes
* Provide advice on risk management, governance, internal controls, business improvement and practical value-adding recommendations to support continuous improvement
* Use data analytics to assess risks, track recommendations and drive adoption

About you

* Experience in managing internal audit engagements, including preparing reports and documentation.
* A proactive, organised professional who adapts easily to changing priorities
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent workplace experience.
* Membership with a relevant professional body such as the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and/or Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA).
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
* Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
