From our modern operations in Girraween (NSW), we process, prepare, and distribute premium chicken meat products across the country.
We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Hatchery Manager to join our team at our Somersby site. This position reports to the Hatchery Manager and is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing policies and practices for efficient hatchery operations, including production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Please note: The role includes a week-on/week-off on-call roster and comes with a fully serviced house. A very competitive salary is on offer for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and coordinate all hatchery functions, including egg pick-up, incubation, grading, vaccination, and chick transport
* Oversee Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs
* Maintain weekly hatch schedules to meet plant supply targets
* Supervise and lead hatchery staff
* Monitor facility equipment, address maintenance needs, and support repairs
* Stay informed on industry trends and new hatchery technologies
* Oversee hatchery sanitation and animal welfare programs
* Ensure compliance with company policies and safety guidelines
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence

What You'll Bring:
* Previous experience in hatchery or poultry operations
* Formal qualification in animal or poultry science (preferred but not essential)
* Strong maintenance understanding (electrical, mechanical, PLC systems)
* Proven leadership and people management capabilities
