About the Role: The Department of Correctional Services is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the position of Work Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator. This role is accountable to the Team Leader Safety Systems for developing, implementing, and monitoring WHS systems, policies, and procedures across nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day coordination and WHS risk management of prison sites and community correctional centres. They will contribute to corporate WHS initiatives and projects while working alongside dedicated professionals who help turn around the lives of offenders.
Duties:
* Developing health and safety plans
* Providing appropriate WHS advice and information
* Maintaining records of incidents or hazards
* Mitigating risks associated with workplace operations
The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. A flexible approach to working hours is also essential as occasional interstate travel may necessitate overnight absences.
