Primary objective
Provide strategic management, leadership and day to day oversight in the delivery of the Legal Services Grants including analysis of grants
projects and the development of policies to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services.
Context statement
The Strategic Policy Unit is a specialist team overseeing the development and implementation of significant justice policy reforms,
managing justice sector stakeholder engagement and the management of legal grants.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide effective leadership in the management of Legal Services grants programs across the Northern Territory to ensure they meet
program objectives and are accountable through implementation of good governance practices, policy, procedure and systems.
1. Provide timely assessment and analysis of grant recipients' key performance indicators to ensure compliance as per the terms and
condition under the grant funding agreements.
1. Liaise, collaborate and consult with stakeholders including grant recipients.
2. Provide advice to inform decision making, and draft correspondence on decisions.
3. Manage budget process, planning and development as required to ensure effective use of funds.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with grant management, financial governance and program delivery.
1. Demonstrated ability to work independently, provide strategic advice, adapt and respond to emerging and competing priorities.
2. High level of collaboration, analytical, organisational, political sensitivity, and client focus skills as well as the ability to build and
maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
1. High level of oral and written communication skills, with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide quality
advice, effectively resolve grant delivery issues with clients/stakeholders at all levels, prepare and present complex information in a
clear and concise manner, and maintain confidentiality.
1. Experience in developing, reviewing and implementing effective operational policy, systems and processes to support informed
decision making in program delivery.
1. Demonstrated ability with a range of computing software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases web browsers and
project planning applications.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification or experience in a relevant field.
1. Knowledge of the role of the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government Grant Funding Programs.
