They protect and manage traditional lands and waters, preserve culture and heritage, and deliver programs that strengthen social, cultural, and economic outcomes for members and future generations. Operating within a structured governance framework, they prioritise integrity, transparency, accountability, and culturally respectful decision-making.Role Overview:We are seeking a senior Governance Specialist to ensure governance integrity, compliance, and operational effectiveness. You will work closely with the Director, Governance, Board, Sub-Committees, and Executive Assistant to align governance processes with executive operations. This role safeguards regulatory compliance, transparency, and corporate accountability.Key Responsibilities:Board & Committee Governance:Coordinate Board and Sub-Committee meetings, agendas, and noticesPrepare and distribute meeting packsRecord minutes and track action itemsSupport Board professional development and formal processesGovernance Registers & Compliance:Maintain statutory and internal registers (Director, Committee, Member, Conflict of Interest, Policy, Governance Documents)Manage digital governance systems and version controlTrack regulatory obligations, reporting deadlines, and compliance documentationMaintain audit-ready governance recordsMembership & Community Governance:Coordinate membership applications and maintain registersAct as point of contact for member enquiriesEnsure culturally appropriate communication and policy adherenceAGM & Formal Governance Processes:Organise AGM logistics, notices, communications, and documentationSupport election processes and post-AGM updatesEnsure compliance with legislative requirementsGovernance Systems & Continuous Improvement:Maintain governance databases and document archiving systemsIdentify workflow improvements and optimise digital governanceAlign governance timelines with executive calendars and reporting cyclesWhat We're Looking For:3–5+ years' experience in governance, legal, corporate, or compliance rolesExperience in corporate, Aboriginal corporation, or not-for-profit governanceStrong statutory compliance knowledge and governance framework experienceAdvanced minute-taking, written communication, and Microsoft Office skillsAbility to manage confidential and sensitive informationStrong cultural awareness and understanding of community governanceHighly organised, disciplined, detail-focused, and calm under pressureQualifications & Requirements:Governance, legal studies, business, or corporate administration qualification (completed or in progress)Work rights in AustraliaNational Police Check (or ability to obtain)Valid C Class Driver's LicenceIf you are a skilled Governance Specialist ready to ensure robust governance, compliance, and executive alignment, APPLY NOW!
