About Us
The Centre for Armed Violence Reduction (CAVR), armedviolencereduction.org, is a leading international not-for-profit which creates and supports solutions to stop violence, control arms and prevent conflict.
CAVR is based in Sydney with personnel and partners in a range of Pacific, African and Latin American countries. We are funded by the UN and government aid agencies. One of our solutions, Shield, is an information and communications system to recruit and empower people to take proven actions to stop deadly violence in their communities. Our initial version is in Papua New Guinea: shieldpng.org.
The Role
CAVR is seeking an experienced marketer to promote Shield through social media to recruit community members in violence-affected communities. They are then supported by the Shield communications system on their action journey. The role will be supported by a recruited marketing army of volunteer Peacemakers. You will work closely with our Communications Manager and other experienced members of the Shield Team.
This is a vital role for a solution which will save lives and reduce the risk of larger scale armed conflict being triggered.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
* Develop a social media marketing strategy to recruit community members in Shield countries, starting with Papua New Guinea
* Recruit an army of "Peacemakers" to achieve our target number of volunteers
* Implement the Shield strategy (supported by Peacemakers) to significantly reduce deadly violence in the areas that we work
* Work with our Communications Manager on Shield and other CAVR marketing and communications tasks.
Requirements
* Senior experience in inorganic and paid social media marketing regarding social issues or services
* Cultural sensitivity and interest in the countries with which we work
* Exceptional marketing and communications skills, including experience with graphic design (using Canva)
* Ability to work from our office at Macquarie University in Sydney.
