**About the role**:
This role will see you working within the Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service Intake (GNMHS) Team, which is a is a newly amalgamated multi-disciplinary team supporting all new referrals into the GNMHS (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens LGA). The role provides leadership within the Intake Team whilst supporting clinicians in the broader service with complex consumer and family needs. You will provide direct mental health intervention to consumers and their families, whilst balancing the needs and limitations of the broader service. The role will be instrumental in collaboration between services and advocating for consumers to access the "right service at the right time".

Education and supervision of clinicians within the service will be a high priority for the clinician entering this role - mentoring of new clinicians within the Intake team as well as clinical supervision for less experienced social workers within the broader service.

**Where you'll be working**:
This role will work across both the Newcastle Mental Health Service, based at James Fletcher Hospital and the Lake Macquarie Mental Health Service, based at Charlestown, dependent upon clinical need. The team engages in daily online meetings for connection and collaboration regarding service provision whilst meeting monthly for face-to-face team meetings.

The role will be supported by the two Clinical Coordinator's of the Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service and the additional Intake leads. Additionally the role will receive support and supervision from the Senior Social Worker of the GNMHS and the Social Work Head of Discipline.

Ongoing education and professional development opportunities are highly valued within the team with a number of weekly forums available designed to support your growing clinical skills and expertise.

**About You**:
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Social Worker who is able to promote compassionate and comprehensive mental health intervention whilst providing leadership to the GNMHS Intake Team and more broadly, the GNMHS. You must be willing to work in a fast paced, acute environment, relying on time management and quick decision making. You will need to be committed to professional development and quality improvement opportunities - assisting the team to evolve with the needs of consumers. Most importantly, you must be able to work within a team of very driven, resilient and charismatic clinicians who prioritise clinical care, team work and positive workplace culture.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor in Social Work or equivalent with eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
