Job Title: Senior Town Planner


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Planning and Projects team as a Senior Town Planner. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in contributing to the delivery of residential projects.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of projects across regional NSW. This role requires strong communication and negotiation skills, with direct interaction with stakeholders, consultants, and council throughout the development process.

The ideal candidate will have experience in town planning, with a proven ability to manage external project teams and negotiate positive outcomes. Previous experience from a consulting background would be advantageous.

Your Daily Responsibilities:

* Interpret local and state government planning strategies, policies, directions, and legislation
* Conduct site analysis and research in relation to relevant town planning provisions, development opportunities, and constraints
* Prepare statements of environmental effects and coordinate supporting documentation and reports
* Coordinate fee proposals and technical advice for various developments and their approval pathways
* Engage with consultants to provide advice and reporting deliverables on technical matters
* Design development, document management, and project delivery
* Assess and analyze complex planning matters and determine solutions
* Negotiate outcomes with consideration to the applicant, community needs, and planning provisions
* Communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff, government agencies, non-government organizations, stakeholders, and the community


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

* A tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field
* Unrestricted Australian working rights
* A current Australian Driver's License
* Eligibility for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia
* Reading and understanding technical drawings and diagrams
* Comprehensive knowledge of the NSW planning system and development assessment process
* Proficient oral/written communication skills
