About The Role

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a motivated and professional Security Officer to join the team at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital (TRRH). In this role, you will provide a prompt and efficient security service across hospital buildings and grounds, supporting the safety and wellbeing of staff, patients and visitors.

You will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment by monitoring access points, responding to security incidents and emergencies, conducting routine patrols and assisting clinical staff during challenging situations. The role requires strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.

This position works across a 24/7 rotating roster and may require flexibility to work across multiple Hunter New England Health sites if required.

Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is the largest hospital in the New England region and provides a comprehensive range of acute and specialty services to the community. As a key facility within Hunter New England Local Health District, the hospital supports a diverse clinical environment focused on patient safety, teamwork and high-quality care.

What You’ll Be Doing

Provide professional security services across hospital buildings and groundsMonitor and control access to hospital facilitiesConduct routine patrols to identify and respond to safety and security risksRespond to alarms, incidents and emergency situationsAssist clinical staff with aggressive or escalating behaviours (Code Black)Operate and monitor security systems including CCTV and alarmsComplete incident reports and maintain accurate documentationLiaise with hospital staff, management and emergency services

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

Hold a current NSW 1A Security Licence and Current First Aid CertificateHave experience in the security industry, preferably within healthcare or public service environmentsDemonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skillsHave the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situationsPossess sound conflict resolution and de-escalation skillsAre able to work both independently and as part of a teamHave basic computer skills for incident reporting systemsHold a current NSW Driver Licence and are willing to travel between sites if required
