Clinical Director - Anatomical Pathology
Australian Clinical Labs is seeking an experienced and visionary Clinical Director of Anatomical Pathology to lead our Geelong laboratory operations. This is a senior medical leadership opportunity responsible for the clinical governance, operational performance and strategic development of Anatomical Pathology services within the region.
Reporting directly to the Victorian CEO, the Clinical Director will provide expert diagnostic services while leading a high-performing team of pathologists, registrars and laboratory staff. The role plays a critical part in maintaining service excellence and strengthening partnerships with major healthcare providers across the Geelong region.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and innovation of Anatomical Pathology services within one of Australia's leading pathology providers.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical and operational leadership for the Anatomical Pathology service in Geelong
Deliver high-quality diagnostic services including reporting of histopathology cases
Ensure compliance with clinical governance, accreditation and regulatory requirements including NATA and RCPA standards
Drive service quality, turnaround time performance and continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to departmental productivity, financial sustainability and operational performance
Lead recruitment, supervision and professional development of pathologists and registrars
Build strong clinical relationships with key hospital partners
Represent Australian Clinical Labs in hospital, clinical and professional forums
Skills and experience:
Medical practitioner eligible for specialist registration with AHPRA
Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) or equivalent specialist qualification (essential)
Demonstrated senior clinical leadership experience within Anatomical Pathology
Strong understanding of clinical governance, laboratory accreditation and quality management systems
Proven ability to lead high-performing clinical teams
Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Financial and operational management capability within a healthcare environment
Strategic mindset with a focus on service growth, innovation and clinical excellence
