Your new role
As the ICT Test Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating ICT project testing activities. Your responsibilities will include:
* Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to execute accurate, timely, and relevant project testing activities.
* Managing ICT project testing activities, including test plans and test cases, across various digital delivery projects within DFES.
* Contributing to the development and maintenance of the project testing strategy.
* Providing reports on testing outcomes, including defects and issues uncovered, and communicating these to relevant stakeholders.
* Ensuring test environments are properly configured, maintained, and fit for purpose, supporting effective testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
* Maintaining current knowledge of contemporary testing methodologies, best practices, and tools.
* You will also define and communicate the test strategy, develop testing strategies and frameworks, manage teams and vendors, and initiate corrective actions where required. Additionally, you will support the preparation and development of relevant documents for the Change Advisory Board and other reporting processes, promote a healthy and safe work environment, and apply DFES health and safety policies and procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Considerable experience (minimum 5 years) in managing ICT solution testing activities for complex and/or high-impact solutions with a large user base.
* Knowledge and expertise across all testing phases, including the development of test strategies and plans, test execution, automation, test results analysis, defect identification, reporting, and improvement activities.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and compellingly to engage and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
* Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to understand strategic objectives, support a shared purpose and direction, and communicate decisions effectively.
* A commitment to action, taking personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work, promoting a positive and balanced approach to work, and demonstrating self-awareness and a commitment to personal development.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively and lead in a team environment, contributing to the achievement of team goals.
* Desirable criteria include relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications, ISTQB Certification, and experience in the public sector.
