Job Overview
This position involves supporting the development and implementation of electrical and controls projects, providing automation and maintenance support to manufacturing facilities, and implementing process controls in alignment with CertainTeed IPG principles.
Main Responsibilities
1. Develop, install, and commission plant controls and automation systems, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, MES data collection, and IIOT networks.
2. Support rebuild and plant expansion projects, which may require extended travel.
3. Manage relationships with contractors, third-party controls engineering partners, and suppliers.
4. Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor project progress, providing regular status updates.
5. Handle all aspects of project management and design engineering for assigned projects.
6. Develop scopes of work and cost estimates for potential projects.
7. Monitor compliance and maintain quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
8. Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting support for complex automation issues.
9. Collaborate with plant production and engineering managers to coordinate process changes and resolve equipment malfunctions.
Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
* 5 to 7 years of experience in controls and automation engineering within continuous process manufacturing or similar environments.
* Proficiency in programming Allen Bradley PLCs; Modicon experience is a plus.
* Experience in HMI development, preferably with Ignition, WinCC, iFix, or Wonderware.
* Knowledge of NEC, NFPA-70, NFPA-86 safety standards.
* Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, IOLink, HART).
* Understanding of object-oriented programming.
* Experience in designing and specifying process control panels.
* Knowledge of standard instrumentation.
* Experience with medium and low voltage electrical distribution and MCCs.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating and modifying drawings.
* MES platform experience and SQL database knowledge are preferred.
* Familiarity with project management practices is a plus.
