Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will act as a subject‐matter expert across financial crime risk management, with a primary focus on AML/CTF and Proliferation Financing, and supporting coverage of sanctions, anti‐bribery and corruption, and FATCA/CRS where relevant.
Operating firmly in the Second Line of Defence, you will not perform operational controls, but will instead provide independent oversight, assurance, advice and reporting to support effective governance, regulatory compliance and a strong risk culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide pragmatic, commercially‐aligned advice to senior management, business teams and governance forums on financial crime risks and obligations
* Develop, review and maintain the AML/CTF Programme and supporting policies, standards and frameworks
* Monitor regulatory developments and emerging financial crime risks, recommending enhancements where required
* Challenge and support first‐line risk assessments, including new products, services and material change initiatives
* Support financial crime incidents and breaches, including regulatory impact assessments and remediation oversight
* Deliver high‐quality Board and management reporting, including key risk indicators
* Perform second‐line assurance activities and track audit and review outcomes
* Assist with engagement with AUSTRAC, APRA and other regulators as required
About You
You are a confident and credible financial crime professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and influencing strong risk outcomes.
You will bring:
* 5+ years' experience in AML/CTF and broader financial crime risk management within financial services, consulting, regulatory or law enforcement environments
* Proven experience in a second‐line advisory, oversight or assurance role
* Strong knowledge of the AML/CTF Act and Rules and AUSTRAC regulatory guidance
* Exposure to sanctions and/or anti‐bribery and corruption frameworks
* The ability to balance regulatory expectations with commercial realities
Qualifications:
* Degree in a relevant discipline (essential)
* CAMS or equivalent professional certification (highly regarded)
