The role

Role Overview

The Swimming Pool Barrier Compliance Officer will undertake inspections to ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation, promote swimming pool safety, and manage Council's Swimming Pool Barrier Inspection program.

Position: Permanent, full‐time, 35 hours per week. Location: Singleton.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and administer the Swimming Pool Barrier Inspection program.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice on swimming barrier compliance and standards.
  • Maintain excellent customer service and relationships with pool owners and other key stakeholders.
  • Use negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Promote the program through community engagement activities.
  • Serve Orders/Notices under the Swimming Pools Act 1992 and any other relevant Act or Regulation.
  • Issue swimming pool compliance certificates for safety barriers where appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate IV in a relevant discipline, or working knowledge of legislation, regulations and codes applicable to swimming pools, including the Swimming Pools Act 1992, Regulation 2008, AS 1926 Swimming Pool Safety parts1 &2.
  • Extensive experience in a similar environment.
  • Well‐developed communication, written and verbal skills, presentation and public‐relation abilities.
  • High level of conflict resolution skills.
  • Registration as a Swimming Pool Inspector with NSW Fair Trading (formerly E1) is an advantage.

Compensation

Grade9: $73,908 – $83,137 per annum (base salary).

Vehicle allowance: $17,043 per annum.

Superannuation: 11.5%.

Work Conditions

Permanent, full‐time (35 hours per week). The role involves on‐site inspections, community engagement and administrative tasks.
