About the Role
We are seeking a Tax & Business Services Accountant with strong technical tax knowledge and proven experience across a broad range of accounting and taxation matters. This role offers the opportunity to take real ownership of your work, delivering outcomes with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.
While we have intentionally avoided the title "Senior Accountant," our focus is on attracting a professional with the depth of knowledge and technical expertise to confidently step into this position and add value to both our clients and our team.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of income tax returns and supporting schedules, from individuals with investments to sole traders, trusts, companies, and SMSFs.
* Review and analyse client data (both accounting software and raw data) to prepare financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and SMSFs.
* Navigate complex areas of taxation including Div7A, CGT, and FBT.
* Prepare and lodge BAS.
* Manage your own workflow and client relationships while collaborating with the team.
* Participate in peer review processes, which not only ensure quality and accuracy but also provide opportunities for continuous learning and growth.
About You
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a public practice tax role in Australia.
* Strong technical knowledge of trusts, companies, and related tax issues.
* Critical thinker with the ability to approach problems logically and practically.
* Proficient with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and Reckon.
* Quick learner with the ability to apply new knowledge effectively.
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
* High attention to detail and a methodical yet efficient work style.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional approach.
* Deep technical tax expertise within the Australian context.
