The Design Manager is accountable for the delivery of engineering services for projects across the business. They are the primary contact for stakeholders for technical requirements and are responsible for managing compliance to all ElectraNet's engineering processes for the project from planning stage to handover to the asset owners including development of specification documentation.
Success in this role is characterised by impactful and influential leadership, clear strategic and holistic thinking, and an ability to build relationships across broad stakeholder groups and engineering and design delivery excellence.
You will:
* Managing engineering project risks within the delegated Engineering Authority framework, reporting progress and proactively resolving issues as they arise to mitigate impact
* Managing allocated technical resources for all technical deliverables on the project including design reviews and construction reviews
* Managing and being accountable for the Safety in Design (SiD) process
* Engaging with the client, internal and external stakeholders to influence and develop a detailed User Requirements Specification
* Coordinate preparation and validation of project design against User Requirements Specification
* Setting clear boundaries and managing interface points across all disciplines (and with the client) to ensure complete scope development, successful integration and deliverables are achieved
* Engaging and managing consultants delivering engineering services (e.g. subject matter experts ensuring project construction and commissioning activities are compliant with the specification and design verification).
* Being accountable, and solutions focused to drive key outcomes through others
You will have:
* Extensive experience in the energy industry (i.e. transmission, distribution or generation) with solid knowledge of substation and transmission system components, performance and operation
* Significant experience successfully delivering engineering outcomes including project scope, specification development, managing design reviews, onsite inspection, and safety in design processes
* Ability to work with a high level of autonomy, adapting to a rapidly changing environment
* Applying theoretical and practical knowledge to solve unique problems
