About the Role

As Legal Assistant you will play a key role in providing legal administrative services and support within our Compensation Law practice.

We work with government and self‐insurer clients to resolve the legal complexities involved in workers' compensation law and associated insurance claims under state and Commonwealth schemes.

A fantastic opportunity to join Australia's most experienced compensation law practice on a permanent full‐time basis.

Responsibilities
* Perform legal administrative services: drafting, editing and proof‐reading letters, memos, briefs and court documents
* Preparing and collating briefs to Counsel
* Analysing files to determine required documentation
* Prepare serious injury responses
* E‐Court filing i.e. Supreme/County/Magistrates Courts
* Obtaining claims agent files
* Diary management
* Booking meetings and venues
* Database updating
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
About You
* Suitable candidates will bring previous legal assistant experience gained in a law firm
* Exposure to litigation is essential (compensation law or personal injury insurance would be ideal)
* A working knowledge of MS Office Suite is essential and an exposure to practice and document management systems is desired but not essential
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, spelling and grammar
* Proven decision making and problem‐solving ability
* Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
* An ability to influence and manage conflict with a diplomatic and consultative approach
* Demonstrate the ability to build strong working relationships
* Strong team collaboration skills with an ability to lead by example
* A passion for providing a high level of customer service
* Strong attention to detail
* The ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
* A desire to learn and develop new skills
* A flexible, friendly and approachable manner
* An enthusiastic and optimistic demeanour
