About the Role
Fitzroy is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Superintendent (EEM) to lead our electrical engineering function across our Carborough Downs Underground Mine. This pivotal role ensures compliance with electrical engineering standards and legislation while providing exceptional leadership, technical expertise and direction across all electrical projects and maintenance activities.
You will create a structured and predictable work environment where safety, performance and continuous improvement are at the forefront of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and control all electrical engineering functions on site.
* Oversee the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and installations.
* Manage all electrical work and activities carried out near electrical installations.
* Develop, supervise and review electrical engineering standards and procedures for mining operations.
* Establish systems and controls to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Work closely with operations to select, install and maintain underground electrical equipment.
* Oversee underground automation and control systems.
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
* Ensure effective management, overhaul and repair of explosion‑protected equipment, including conformity assessments.
* Maintain electrical installations, reticulation and protection systems in alignment with the Life of Mine (LOM) plan.
* Provide technical support, mentoring and coaching to electrical engineers, coordinators and trades.
* Lead electrical engineering projects and actively contribute to the defect elimination process.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, we are seeking a candidate who is passionate about coal mining. The ideal applicant will have:
* QLD Electrical Engineering Manager – Certificate of Competency (essential)
* Extensive experience in underground coal mining (essential)
* Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent
* Supervisor tickets G1, G8, G9 (formerly S1, S2, S3) and G2
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative leadership style.
