Diesel Mechanic
Wanna Lift Group, based in Alice Springs, has been servicing the specialised transport needs of their customers in Alice Springs and Australia wide since 2007. We are a family run business. We are looking for a highly skilled, reliable team member, with high attention to detail for this fulltime permanent position. A great work ethic and the ability to take ownership of projects and work independently, with the necessity to instruct others are what we are looking for.
Skills and Experience for this role:
Relevant Trade Qualification is essential (Minimum of 3 years post trade experience as Diesel Mechanic)
· Performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
· Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
· Testing, dismantling, removing, repairing, replacing, reassembling diesel motors and mechanical parts of trucks and other heavy vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering mechanisms and brakes
· Ensuring all heavy vehicles are adequately maintained in accordance with the performance standards of the Chain of Responsibility Legislation and National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme Maintenance
· Liaising with the Workshop Manager in regards to parts ordering and accurate completion of documentation
· Refilling and changing engine fluids, replacing filters and other hydraulic components, and adjusting system operating temperatures
· Attending to breakdowns when necessary
· Test-drive vehicles (relevant licence required – optional)
· Operating equipment and carrying out all work in a safe and efficient manner.
· Stock take at workshop, restocking of parts, filters, hoses, oils, lubricants and other required materials
· Record servicing and repairs to equipment in maintenance record system
· Housekeeping in workshop
· Complying with the Wanna Lift Group Operations, Policies and Procedures
The candidate will bring:
Excellent communication and time management skills
Fluent English skills
Current Drivers licence (minimum HR; HC or MC preferred but optional)
Forklift Licence (optional)
Experience in Heavy Vehicle Industry and Equipment Maintenance
Knowledge of welding equipment (MIG, ARC, Plasma cutting and gas torches)
Computer Literacy
an enthusiastic "can-do" attitude
Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening prior to commencing employment.
