Competitive Salary: $154,403 - $157,430pa (plus superannuation and leave loading). Legal Officer Grade V. Flexible work options available; office attendance required.
About the Role
The Civil Law Division is the largest publicly funded civil law practice in Australia. Our civil practice covers housing and tenancy, human rights, social security, consumer protection, disaster response and insurance, employment, discrimination, immigration, visa cancellation, the NDIS, mental health law, coronial inquests, and the Sexual Assault Communications Privilege Service. We have dedicated services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, children and young people, refugees, prisoners, veterans, and older people experiencing elder abuse. Our purpose is to improve the lives of people experiencing deep and persistent disadvantage or dislocation by using civil law to meet their fundamental needs.
We are seeking a Senior Solicitor who will play a pivotal leadership role in supervising and supporting Civil Law Practice Managers. You will guide and influence the delivery of high‐quality civil law services across the division, using your substantial experience in one or more of our civil practice areas.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and support Civil Law Practice Managers.
* Guide and influence the delivery of high‐quality civil law services.
* Translate complex legal concepts into accessible guidance for solicitors at varying experience levels.
* Build strong relationships across disciplines and with local communities.
Qualifications
* Seasoned civil law practitioner with demonstrated capability in managing a busy legal practice.
* Collaborative leader who builds strong relationships across disciplines.
* Effective communicator with excellent client, stakeholder and team engagement skills.
* Organised and strategic, with proven experience supervising legal professionals.
* Committed to community impact, especially in delivering legal services to those experiencing persistent disadvantage.
* Exceptional networking skills and experience working with local communities and diverse stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
* Be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.
* Provide a current Unrestricted NSW Practising Certificate before starting work.
* Must be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check.
* Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies).
