About the role
The role is an opportunity to contribute to access to justice through the provision of administrative support in both the civil and criminal jurisdictions of the Court. You will build knowledge of Court rules, operations, protocols, procedures, and legal terminology, as well as develop productive working relationships with the judiciary.
As a Registrar's Associate you will work closely with a Registrar of the District Court in ensuring the proper case management of both civil and criminal matters. You will be responsible for performing administrative functions and providing clerical support for the chambers.
As a Registrar's Associate you will act as the point of contact for legal practitioners, members of the public, court staff, litigants in person, and members of the judiciary seeking to approach or refer information to the Registrar. For this reason, highly effective written and verbal communication and organisation skills are needed.
You will be required to prepare, organise, and maintain court files. In order to do so, you will be required to read, analyse, and understand Court documents and procedures, as well as some legislation.
You will also provide in-court support to a Registrar, including calling cases, typing orders, recording findings, and generating documents using the court's Case Management System.
You are expected to have considerable computing skills as the role requires you to prepare, control and retrieve documents for the court using the electronic case management system.
