About The Role
As Manager, Education Justice Initiative, you will:
* Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to a dedicated team delivering targeted support to young people engaged with the youth justice system. Lead the development and implementation of evidence-informed practices that assess and respond to the complex educational needs of young people appearing before the Childrens Court, with a focus on re-engagement and sustained participation in appropriate education, training or employment option.
* Foster strong interagency collaboration by representing the department on multi-agency panels and working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive service delivery that promotes positive educational outcomes for at-risk young people.
* Drive innovation through collaborative partnerships, co-designing and implementing new initiatives with internal and external stakeholders that address systemic barriers and enhance educational engagement for the target cohort.
Responsibilities Include
* Lead and oversee delivery of the Education Justice Initiative, including direct case management provision proportionate to team management responsibilities, and allocation of complex or escalated cases.
* Oversee the operation of the Education Justice Initiative with adherence to policy, procedure and legislation, providing advice on managing potential issues in consultation with internal stakeholders, and ensuring the effective management of corporate information, and communication systems and processes within the regional office.
* Strategically manage and triage regional referrals to the Education Justice Initiative and coordinate, analyse, develop, monitor and review regional case management governance and planning activities to ensure alignment with strategic priorities, legislation and policy.
* Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Magistrates, Judges, Youth Justice Services, legal representatives, police, multi-agency collaborative groups and community organisations, providing a departmental perspective and information related to a young person's educational history.
* Attend multi-agency collaborative panels and contribute to an authorising environment to make decision and escalate matters relating to student engagement.
* Initiate, develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including state school principals, regional staff, personnel from other regional and divisional offices, and staff from other government departments, external stakeholders in non-government organisations, non-state schools and education and training providers to find appropriate educational pathways for reengagement.
* Oversee individual and team capabilities to develop education plans to support a young person to transition into a suitable educational pathway in consultation with the young person, their family, Child Safety, Youth Justice and other relevant stakeholders.
* Analyse, review and refine regional systems and processes in line with continuous improvement practices to ensure the successful delivery of the Education Justice Initiative and maintain currency with regards to changing business and policy requirements.
* Ensure privacy and confidentiality requirements are adhered to so that information obtained from young people and families and departmental information systems is used within legislative and policy requirements.
* Lead the management of recruitment, workforce planning, training, supervision and performance of staff to build capacity and ensure a high level of service delivery in line with departmental requirements.
