AFL Cairns and Cazalys Cairns Limited are seeking a visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. We are looking for an experienced finance leader ready to make a meaningful impact across multiple community AFL sporting and club entities.
We're looking for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and has a passion for driving growth, compliance, operational excellence and the positive impact of AFL across our region.

· Provide actionable financial and strategic advice to the Board and senior management.
· Oversee financial transactions, accounts, payroll, and reporting across all group entities—promoting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
· Lead consolidated budgets, forecasts, and group-wide financial planning.
· Ensure strong cash flow management, capital allocation, and risk management.
· Maintain full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements.
· Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies, banks, sponsors, insurers and government stakeholders.
· Champion continuous improvement, process automation, and systems modernisation
· Lead and foster a high-performance finance team supporting operational and strategic objectives.
· Work closely with the Group General Manager and management teams of the Group to align financial and operational objectives and drive the overall success of the organisation.
About You:
You're a commercially astute finance leader with strong strategic capability, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a passion for purpose-driven organisations. You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and have a track record of leading finance functions to deliver both operational excellence and strategic insight.
You will have:
· Degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline and CPA/CA or equivalent.
· Proven success in CFO or senior finance leadership roles—ideally within community clubs, not-for-profit, or complex multi-entity organisations.
· Demonstrated expertise in evaluating, implementing, and modernising financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and drive organisational change.
· Strong track record in financial stewardship, compliance, and risk management.
· Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capability.
· Ability to perform in a fast-paced, diverse, and evolving group structure.
· Motivated by making a tangible difference to local sport, events, and community activities.
What We Offer:
· Unique opportunity to positively impact local sport and the community.
· Collaborative, values-driven culture with passionate colleagues.
· Scope to modernise, standardise, and elevate finance within a thriving group.
· Competitive remuneration reflective of experience and capability.
