About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a dynamic HR team. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while delivering exceptional customer service. Acting as the second‐in‐charge to the Team Leader Payroll, you will provide specialist support and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage end‐to‐end payroll processing, including fortnightly pay runs.
* Maintain accuracy of employee master data and salary records.
* Oversee timesheet and leave processing for correct payments.
* Calculate and verify termination entitlements.
* Prepare payroll‐related reports and reconcile general ledger accounts.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, awards, and organisational policies.
* Liaise with external stakeholders regarding deductions and payroll matters.
* Participate in payroll projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
* Minimum 5 years' experience in payroll processing within Local Government.
* Proficient in SAP or similar HR/payroll systems.
* Strong understanding of industrial awards and payroll legislation.
* Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
* Strong problem‐solving and communication skills.
Desirable:
* Experience with Query Manager for SAP reporting.
* Background in payroll process improvement.
