The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

The key duties of the position include:
A new role awaits

The National Disability Insurance Agency Financial Reporting and Control Branch supports the Agency in financial management, compliance with legislative and policy requirements, and financial sustainability for both the Agency and the Scheme.

As part of the Financial Reporting and Control Branch, the Scheme Reporting team provides oversight of the performance and position of the Scheme's financial statements and monitors the financial systems these statements rely on. They analyse revenues, expenses, payables, receivables, systems, and controls.

The National Disability Insurance Agency Financial Reporting and Control Branch is seeking candidates to fill an APS6 Senior Business Analyst vacancy in their Scheme Reporting team to support the team’s critical role of informed decision-making, safeguarding financial position, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

As the APS6 Senior Business Analyst – Scheme Reporting, you will represent and negotiate on behalf of the branch, develop reporting and procedures, and resolve issues to ensure the agency operates a robust financial control environment.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

- Sourcing, transforming, and interpreting data into actionable metrics and insights, and analysing results using standard and complex statistical techniques.
- Managing business and technical reporting including requirements, design, testing, training, and rollout.
- Articulating complex information into simple messaging that can be utilised by a variety stakeholders with varied levels of data literacy.
- Delivering the Agency’s continuous improvement initiative, automating reporting, and utilising the information in the data warehouse.
- Contributing to various types of documentation, such as operational procedures, manuals, job aids, forms, and reference guides.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

Our ideal candidate has demonstrated strong analytical skills, enjoys a challenge and thrives on solving complex problems. They are committed to continuous improvement, and have excellent written and verbal communication.

They will bring a strong background in finance or analytical functions, with hands-on experience using SAS (Enterprise Guide, VIYA, Visual Analytics) and SAP—particularly the Public Sector Collections and Disbursements module.

Proficiency in business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, or similar platforms is highly desirable, as is prior experience within the Commonwealth Government, especially with the NDIS.

A solid working knowledge of SQL is essential, along with the ability to contribute across a broad range of activities spanning multiple program areas.

Advanced skills in Excel, Git, Bitbucket, and SourceTree will be highly regarded.

Eligibility

This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.

Notes

We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

A merit pool will be established that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing and non-ongoing) within the next 18 months.

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life. The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community. This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government. The NDIS now supports over 500,000 Australians with disability to access the services and supports they need. This includes supporting approximately 80,000 children with developmental delay, ensuring they receive supports early so that they achieve the best outcomes throughout their lives.
