About MRA Automation
MRA Automation is a respected Australian engineering consultancy specialising in smart control systems and industrial automation. For over 25 years, they've delivered robust, intelligent solutions across mining, manufacturing, infrastructure, and bulk materials handling sectors.
With a team of 50+ experts in Warabrook (NSW) and Mackay (QLD), MRA is known for its hands-on approach, deep engineering expertise, and high-performing and team-oriented culture.
They offer end-to-end automation services, from PLCs and SCADA integration to advanced materials handling systems and mobile equipment diagnostics. Their standout innovation, the Axo33 suite, delivers real-time visibility and predictive insights to enhance performance and reduce downtime.
Now, as national demand grows, MRA is investing in operational leadership to support scale and strategic growth.
The Role
This is a pivotal opportunity to lead operations within a growing engineering business. As COO, you'll build and oversee an operational framework that enables MRA to scale efficiently, without compromising quality or culture.
You'll ensure systems, workflows, and teams run smoothly across engineering, support, finance, and admin. Your leadership will allow the Directors to focus on growth and client partnerships, while you drive execution and operational performance.
You'll assist in shaping strategy, guide scaling decisions, and protect MRA's high-performance, values-led culture.
Operational Leadership Scope
You'll take ownership of daily operations, optimising systems for project tracking, resource allocation, and reporting. Working across engineering, finance, admin, and sales support, you'll ensure cohesion and smooth execution.
You'll focus on utilisation, capacity planning, and recruitment alongside HR, while also overseeing project margins, invoicing, and delivery risk.
Crucially, you'll help preserve and strengthen a collaborative culture as MRA grows, while freeing the Directors to focus on market development and long-term strategy.
