About you: In your new role you will * Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and work policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces. * Provide clinical leadership within social work including clinical practice supervision of relevant staff/students, and assistance with performance management, business processes and quality improvement. To be recognised as a reference point for social workers, and other health professionals, managers and health care consumers of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. * Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols which reflect evidence based practice, initiative and innovation, and that supports the continuum of care. About your opportunity: In this position you will * Act as reference point and contribute to staff development through clinical practice supervision of staff and students, performance appraisal, professional development, recruitment and selection and mandatory training. * Lead and manage staff by fostering and committing to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by maintaining and evaluating safety and quality practices and inititiatives. * Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of capability and cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds. About your role: * Actively participate in professional education within the work unit and professional team and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within the Cairns Hospital and for the Social Work profession * Provide a leadership role in the clinical assessment and intervention planning for service recipients from a Social Work and multidisciplinary team perspective, ensuring timely identification of client's needs, service provision, and transition/discharge planning within the work unit. * Exercise independent clinical judgement and more complex decision making in areas such as psychosocial assessments; short and long term case management; counselling; crisis intervention for a broad range of clinical presentations.
