About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Finance Officer to join our team in Canberra. As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial management activities. Your responsibilities will include managing financial records, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivables, and perform monthly and annual financial reconciliations.
* Assist in the preparation of financial reporting, including project-based financial reporting, and monthly and annual company reporting to the Board.
* Process salaries, superannuation, allowances, and leave using Xero accounting software. Provide timely and accurate administrative support for financial management.
* Assist with statutory reporting, including Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and payroll tax reporting.
* Undertake occasional travel within Australia.
* Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Finance Officer.
* Proficiency in Xero Accounting software.
* Experience in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
* Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills, particularly Excel.
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Desirable:
* Experience working in Defence Projects.
Other Requirements:
* Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR).
* Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance - NV1.
