Division/Section: Infrastructure and Operations / Engineering and Asset Infrastructure Planning

Position Type: Fixed Term Full Time (2 years, 9 day fortnight, 36.25 hours/week)

Location: 143 Walker Street, Townsville City

Salary Range: Base Salary $79,993 - $96,989 per annum + super (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Start your career as a Graduate Civil Engineer and get hands‐on experience working on projects that shape the places people use every day. In this 2‐year Graduate Program, you'll help plan and deliver real community infrastructure like roads, drainage and public spaces, while learning how engineering works inside local government. You'll rotate through teams including Engineering & Asset Infrastructure Planning, Traffic Engineering, Active Transport, Floodplain Modelling and CRM Investigations, giving you a great mix of technical and practical experience.

With guidance from experienced engineers, training workshops and one‐on‐one coaching, you'll investigate customer enquiries, work with data, and help develop smart, practical solutions. It's a great chance to build confidence, grow your skills, and see the direct impact of your work in the community from day one.

Responsibilities

You will assist in planning and delivering community infrastructure projects including roads, drainage, and public spaces. You will rotate through teams such as Engineering & Asset Infrastructure Planning, Traffic Engineering, Active Transport, Floodplain Modelling, and CRM Investigations, to gain technical and practical experience. You will investigate customer enquiries, work with data, and help develop smart, practical solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

In an ideal applicant, we are looking for:

* Completed Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil) within the last three (3) years or will be completed prior to the start of the Graduate program, and eligibility to apply for membership with the Institution of Engineers Australia.
* Current "C" Class driver's licence.
* Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
* Well‐developed oral and written communication skills.
* Sound time management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work, achieve set and agreed performance and service standards and meet deadlines.
* Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
