Job Description
In this role, the successful applicant will work to assist with the City's Governance functions, including attending Council Meetings, support the implementation, review, and ongoing enhancement of the City's Governance Framework and related practices.
The key responsibilities of this role:
* Coordinate Council, Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee meeting cycles, including agendas, minutes, meeting administration and technology support.
* Manage public questions and statements, Strategic Workshop scheduling, materials and outcomes reporting.
* Prepare the annual Council meeting schedule and provide guidance on the preparation of high‐quality Council reports.
* Support other strategy, policy and risk management projects and services led by the Governance Services branch.
* Facilitate the implementation and monitoring of the City's Compliance Calendar, including progress reporting to Executive and the Audit and Risk Committee.
* Assist with the development, implementation, and periodic review of Council Policies, Protocols, Procedures, and Local Laws.
* Manage the annual returns process and issue primary returns as required.
* Review and maintain the Delegations and Authorisations Register.
* Monitor legislative and policy updates and provide critical analysis.
To be successful in this role you will have:
* The ability to interpret and apply the requirements and obligations of legislation such as the Local Government Act 1995.
* Experience in a local government Governance role or similar.
* Strong analytical, research and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Sound understanding of governance, risk management and administrative practices.
* Experience preparing reports and presenting information to senior management and governing bodies, with a strong attention to detail.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
* Experience maintaining governance registers in a systems environment.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing competing priorities.
Salary Package
In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025 this position is classified as a Level 6. The salary range is $101,289.24 to $111,407.40 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
