About the opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced, highly attentive and solutions-focused Financial Analyst on a full time basis to support the Corporate Finance Hub. In this role you will collaborate extensively with internal stakeholders and offer expert financial guidance. Furthermore, the successful candidate will support financial performance analysis, provide advice and decision support for strategic, operational, and business planning, and deliver services and solutions for effective and efficient financial administration and management. They will also drive budgeting and forecasting processes and enhance performance reporting to effectively communicate results.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide financial guidance, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to address complex financial challenges
- deliver complex analysis and applying advanced problem-solving to generate strategic insights across a diverse range of financial matters within the cluster
- support cluster-wide consolidation, reporting, and variance analysis of Actuals, Plans, Budgets, and Forecasts, including the preparation of insightful management reports
- contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring precise alignment with the university & broader financial aspirations
- produce intricate financial modelling and analysis for effective decision-making
- identify and implement continuous improvement and new initiatives within both wider Financial Services and across Central Portfolios
- participate and provide input to major Financial Services projects to support the effective delivery of large projects on time, on budget and meeting all quality objectives
- working with other Financial Services staff, both from the Centre and from Faculty, to ensure efficient, integrated, end to end processes and timely, proactive service delivery
- engage and build strong relationships with stakeholders, facilitating discussion to address concerns and gather feedback, ensuring alignment with work area goals
- coordinate and manage risk assessment activities within the work area, prioritising workplace health and safety and ensuring consistent alignment with university guidelines and best practices.
About you
- bachelor's degree in a relevant field of an equivalent combination of training and experience
- membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants or Certified Practicing Accountants Australia (preferred)
- previous experience in financial planning and analysis including budgeting and forecasting and financial reporting
- experience using PowerBI and Advanced Excel skills
- experience working as a Financial Analyst or equivalent within a large and complex organisation
- proven ability to provide strategically aligned financial insights, sound financial management, decision support, advice and analysis to a varied client group, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail
- extensive experience in building complex financial reporting and analysis, budget / forecast preparation and analysis, KPI reporting and ad-hoc analysis
- excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence
- developing and/or tracking financial and non-financial key performance indicators
- proven stakeholder relationship management skills, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders
- adaptable, agile approach with a focus on contributing to overall team success.
