Details: The Health and Community Services Directorate (HCSD) Information and communications technology (ICT) Embedded Team in Digital Canberra is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the multi-faceted role of Director of Digital Services. This position is critical in delivering ICT operations, project management, and technical leadership while actively contributing to strategic initiatives in the Health and Community Services Directorate. Reporting to the ICT Business Partner, the Director will liaise, negotiate, and coordinate with key stakeholders including users, vendors, and executives to address complex ICT challenges and deliver innovative solutions. The role ensures alignment with Directorate, Customer, Data and Technology (CDT), and ACT Government priorities and supports the advancement of technology to meet business objectives.
In this role, you will provide effective leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring successful delivery of operational and project objectives. You will build and maintain strong relationships with senior executives, technical stakeholders, vendors, and cross-jurisdictional partners, while overseeing multiple digital initiatives to ensure timely and aligned delivery. The position involves analysing business operations, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing sustainable solutions using data-driven insights. You will deliver expert technical and strategic advice, oversee specialist input and technical capability development, and supervise a team of up to five direct reports along with additional indirect staff.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in ICT operations and project delivery across areas such as Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) implementation, software development, or infrastructure. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, advanced knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) frameworks and Information technology service management (ITSM) tools, and an understanding of emerging ICT trends are essential. The ability to think strategically and apply analytical capability to drive business improvement and service innovation will be key to success in this role.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
* Formal qualifications and/or certification in Project Management and Program Management is highly desirable.
* Formal certifications at the associate/expert level in Programming Languages, Database Operations/Languages, Microsoft Platform Capabilities is highly desirable.
* Formal ITIL qualifications and a degree or qualification in ICT will be highly regarded.
* A current ACT Government issued Personnel Vetting Program certificate (Baseline clearance equivalent) is required for this position, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
Work is conducted primarily from Belconnen with the potential for office days in the city, blended with working from home.
This position requires the occupant to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia under regulations set out in the Public Sector Management Act 1994 (ACT)
