Inviting applications for the role of Counsel, Legal Compliance
In this role, you will act as a counsel supporting the continued growth and compliance of Genpact Australia's business. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated mid - level commercial lawyer to join our global legal team where you will have direct exposure to all levels of business.
This role is based in Sydney.
Responsibilities
· Advise on matters relating to regulatory compliance and employment law
· Manage Genpact's compliance with the terms of its Australian Credit License and its various debt collections licenses
· Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements
· Collaborate with other departments of the global business and provide legal support in all stages of the client lifecycle, including RFPs, compliance questionnaires, scope reviews to ensure regulatory compliance, etc.
· Stay up to date and advise the business on relevant legal and regulatory changes including those relating to privacy regulations and industry standards, CPS230 and other relevant APRA Prudential Standards
· Attend to miscellaneous legal matters including corporate secretarial matters, internal investigation support, and issues related to office premise leases
· Contribute to process improvement, development of policies, knowledge sharing, training, and other department initiatives as required
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients and regulatory stakeholders.
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
· Current admission as a legal practitioner in Australia
· 5-8 years post-qualification experience
· Flexibility to reasonably accommodate meetings in other time zones and work 2- 3 days from the Sydney office
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
· A mix of law firm and in-house experience
· Prior experience with the maintaining an Australia credit license and complying with ASIC requirements (exposure to financial services industry would be a bonus, but not essential)
· Prior experience in a multinational company or representing multinational clients on a wide variety of subjects
· Understanding of Australian governance and compliance frameworks
· Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks of competing priorities
· Emotional intelligence with strong communication skills
· Enthusiasm for technology and improving ways of working through workflows, automation, and adoption of technology.
