The Night Cafe Service
The Night Cafe is a vital support service for young people aged 12 to 25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The service provides a safe, welcoming space to rest or connect with others and a sense of community.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‐quality, person‐centred support to young people to identify strengths and needs, assist with setting and achieving goals, and provide case work support.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop effective case and safety plans, and liaise with stakeholders to source appropriate support services.
- Support volunteers to provide practical and meaningful engagement with the young people accessing the service.
- Work flexible shifts during both office hours and evenings as required.
Qualifications
- Sound experience in casework and case management.
- Strong cultural competence and the ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to assess complex needs, conduct risk assessments, and develop effective case and safety plans.
- Proven capacity to advocate, collaborate, and network across sectors.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- An understanding of the complex needs of children and young people.
- Current Working with Children Check and driver's licence.
- Ability to network and share knowledge with volunteers and stakeholders.
- Adaptability to an evolving landscape of client and volunteer needs.

Further information: This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award – Level 4, hourly rate from $44.58 + casual loading.
