Australian Government Consulting (AGC), within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, is the Australian Public Service's in‑house consulting capability, working for public impact and nothing else. We partner closely with APS agencies to solve complex, high‑profile challenges that directly affect the wellbeing of Australians, delivering strategic policy advice, organisational performance improvements and better outcomes from external consulting spend.
Our Consultants (APS 5) and Senior Consultants (APS 6) work in small, high‑performing teams alongside talented peers, senior public servants and clients across government, applying structured problem‑solving, critical and strategic thinking, research and data analysis to deliver high‑quality consulting projects. Consultants build strong foundations in consulting craft, stakeholder engagement and project delivery, while Senior Consultants take on greater responsibility for shaping work programs, engaging confidently with diverse stakeholders, facilitating discussions, analysing evidence and translating insights into practical recommendations. Across both roles, you'll be supported to learn rapidly, contribute your ideas, and grow your expertise in a collaborative and inclusive environment that values feedback, curiosity and excellence.
At AGC, you won't just work on meaningful projects — you'll help shape a distinctive APS style of management consulting and play a part in reshaping how government delivers lasting public value.
