WYRESH is a co-educational school, delivering educational programs for up to 76 remanded young people at the Youth Justice operated Wacol Youth Remand Centre located at Wacol. It is intended that young people will only be held on remand at this centre for short periods. The curriculum is focused on individualised Literacy and Numeracy learning, Health and Physical Education and through a social development program which utilises personal and social capabilities and aims to prepare students for a successful transition to school, employment or further training. Our staff are passionate about helping improve the knowledge, skills and abilities of our students, many of whom have had disrupted or negative experiences of schooling and often have lived through complex trauma and disadvantage.
About the role:
Teachers will work collaboratively with the Leadership Team and staff across QETC campuses and key stakeholders from interdepartmental agencies to "unlock learning" for our students.
The ideal candidates, from the primary and secondary sectors, will have experience in student-centred learning with the ability to fulfil the campus' obligation to close individual skills gaps, develop language, positive behaviours and social skills and create future pathway opportunities.
