Child & Family Wellbeing Practitioner

Permanent Part-Time

We are powered by a dedicated team with more than 800 years of combined lived and professional experience, ensuring culturally safe, person centered, knowledgeable, and effective care.

REFOCUS is seeking a Child and Family Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team and support culturally safe, family-led planning for children and families.

The role of a REFOCUS Practitioner is to provide a high level of assessments and recommendations identifying ongoing supports necessary for ongoing case management for children and their families.

Pay and conditions

Permanent Part Time

Hourly pay rates range from:

$35 – $52 per hour subject to Award Rate [MA000100]

Classification level and pay rate are assessed and determined based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capability.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who can:

* Organize, supervise, observe, and analyze contact sessions between children and parents in line with Court directions or orders.
* Assess the quality of parent-child interactions and terminate sessions if harmful.
* Prepare accurate written reports on supervised contact sessions.
* Deliver DFV programs/interventions, Triple P Parenting, Circle of Security, and other relevant parenting programs.
* Provide evidence of ability, experience, and training in program delivery; contribute to assessments and evaluations.
* Support young people transitioning to adulthood (T2A) and those with a history of homelessness to develop self-care skills, achieve independent living, secure employment, and find suitable housing.
* Undertake direct work with parents/carers on daily tasks (cooking, cleaning, budgeting) and parenting skills (basic care routines, attachment, play, managing challenging behavior).
* Conduct one-to-one and group sessions to improve parenting and quality of life for children and young people.
* Educate parents on early attachment and the impact of domestic violence/substance abuse on child development; advise on corrective actions.
* Provide guidance on local support services, benefits, housing, training, and employment opportunities.
* Work across varied settings: family homes, schools, children's centers, foster homes, and youth accommodations.
* Build positive relationships with families, young people, and carers to engage them in improving life chances and outcomes.
* Contribute to team duty services and respond to service needs as required.
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in accordance with REFOCUS policy and service standards.

Qualifications & Experience

* Relevant qualification in Community/Social Services or working towards and/or 2years minimum work experience.
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities is highly desirable
* Experience in facilitation, family support, or child and family wellbeing settings is desirable

Additional requirements

* Current Working with Children Check
* Criminal history check
* Ability to meet REFOCUS compliance and reporting requirements
* Current Drivers Licence (minimum green P's)
* Ability to work within the 10 Child Safe Standards
