Role Overview
As a Senior Occupational Therapist (Level 3) within the Mental Health Intensive Rehabilitation Unit, you will play a pivotal role in a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting consumers with complex mental health needs through extended, intensive rehabilitation. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with consumers over time, helping them develop the skills, independence and confidence required for successful community living following discharge. As part of the Statewide Intensive Rehabilitation Network, the unit provides a specialised and supportive environment where evidence‐based practice, collaborative care and continuity of service are core to the model of care. This rewarding position allows you to make a meaningful impact on the recovery journey of consumers who require intensive support.
Are You the Right Fit?
You are an experienced and highly skilled Occupational Therapist who brings strong clinical reasoning, expert assessment and intervention capabilities, and a deep commitment to evidence‐based practice in mental health. You lead with compassion and professionalism, supporting the provision of safe, timely and person‐centred care while offering leadership, clinical governance and mentorship within the occupational therapy service. You thrive in multidisciplinary environments and demonstrate confidence working with complex rehabilitation needs, maintaining high professional standards as you support consumers through intensive therapeutic interventions. You are also adaptable and capable of working within a seven‐day rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, ensuring consistent, high‐quality rehabilitation support for consumers throughout their recovery journey.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
* Current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board and AHPRA, with at least 3 years post graduate clinical experience.
* Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services in Mental Health.
* Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
* Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and/or students.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
