A successful Construction Project Director will lead the delivery of utility-scale battery energy storage systems as part of a rapidly growing portfolio of renewable energy assets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Establish and manage project governance systems, ensuring effective task management and timeframes for project teams, external consultants & contractors.
* Participate in pre-contracts, commercial, and procurement activities for BESS projects, including EPC RFPs, tender management, technical specification negotiations, scope definition, and head terms.
* Oversee the design and execution of all project packages, encompassing engineering, civil, mechanical, electrical, commissioning, SCADA, and ancillary services.
* Ensure adherence to project implementation plans, identify issues & bottlenecks, and mitigate the impact of project challenges.
* Lead end-to-end project delivery, including setting up multidisciplinary project teams, onboarding & managing contractors, owner's engineers, NSPs, government authorities, suppliers, and 3rd-party consultants via active contract management.
* Oversee all construction management activities, including progress monitoring, planning, reporting, CAPEX budget control.
* Ensure integration of project & contract management to guarantee cohesive project delivery according to contractual terms.
* Deliver stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation with government and company stakeholders, such as Trans Grid, AEMO, councils, planning, and OEMs to achieve grid compliance, capacity levels, and availability requirements up to provisional acceptance and handover.
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification in a technical, engineering, or project management field.
* A strong background in project management for the construction of renewable energy and electrical infrastructure assets, including battery energy storage assets (BESS).
* Advanced project management skills, preferably with pre-contracts involvement.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Adept at problem identification and resolution.
* Experience with project management related tools.
* Experience with HSEQ, risk management, and contract management.
* An understanding of energy use and energy markets in Australia.
* Excellent time management and organisation skills.
* Proactive with high levels of initiative.
* Collaborative team player.
* Willingness to travel regionally and interstate.
